SuperRugby round four - preview.

WRITTEN BY THE EDITOR ON MARCH 15, 2017. POSTED IN SPORTS

The worst of the week is behind you, now it's into the beautiful weekend and another round of SuperRugby. It's the 4th week, so we are starting to get a good understanding on where the teams stand.

Let's have a look at the games then, and see who to pick leading into them.

Index for below:

W - Win

L - Loss

B - Bye

Friday

Crusaders vs Blues 08:35

Crusaders - WWW

Blues - WLL

Blues had a golden opportunity last week to stake their claim as a New Zealand team capable of running with the rest of them from middle earth. But they fluffed it. Expect a similar result here.

Verdict: Crusaders

Rebels vs Chiefs 10:45

Rebels: LLB

Chiefs: WWW

Rebels got thrashed twice then had a bye. Against a solid Chiefs team the losing is set to continue here. Comfortably continue.

Verdict: Chiefs

Bulls vs Sunwolves 19:00

Bulls: LLB

Sunwolves: LLL

Can the Bulls loosen the shackles and turn their season around? It's the match of the winless, and at altitude I think it will stay that way for the Sunwolves after 80 tough minutes here.

Verdict: Bulls

Saturday

Hurricanes vs Highlanders 08:35

Hurricanes: WWL

Highlanders: LLW

Another great all New Zealand derby, and another tough test for the Hurricanes after an easy start to the tournament. The defending champs came unstuck against the Chiefs last week in the rain, but they should certainly have too much to offer against the Highlanders here.

Verdict: Hurricanes

Waratahs vs Brumbies 10:45

Waratahs: WLL

Brumbies: LLW

An old Aussie arm wrestle, given greater significance as they are playing in memory of Dan Vickerman. Brumbies nothing more than average nowadays though, so the Waratahs, even after a tough SA tour, should edge them here.

Verdict: Waratahs

Lions vs Reds 17:15

Lions: WWL

Reds: WLL

Lions back to full strength and raring to go. This could be another 50 pointer, and after dropping points to the Jaguares, it kinda needs to be for the title aspirant Lions.

Verdict: Lions

Sharks vs Kings 19:30

Sharks: WWW

Kings: LWL

Sharks have looked the best of the SA teams so far, and get to try a bit of their depth here against the Kings. In both player and strategy departments, but look for the home side to still win at a canter, but nothing outrageous.

Verdict: Sharks

Jaguares vs Cheetahs 21:40

Jagurares: WLW

Cheetahs: LWW

The Jaguares are prickly foes at the best of times, but especially so at home. Not an easy place to travel too, so look for the Cheetahs to take this deep but ultimately come up short. Unless the customary cards come out of course.

Verdict: Jaguares
