Getting fancy at the Pink Polo at Val de Vie.

Last year I went to the Pink Polo at Val de Vie. An event so spectacular, I'm heading back again this year.

For sure. Any excuse to go down to Franschhoek, one of my very favourite places in South Africa. Polo is the only kind of 'horse' event attending in my book. Racing is a bit dodgy as the tracks are in dreadful areas, and showjumping people are just strange.

Polo though, it's a proper jol, and they don't come much better than the Pink Polo at Val de Vie.

It's polo with a purpose too as the event raises funds and creates awareness of symptoms and early detection of breast cancer. The event is a celebration too for the survivors of breast cancer, highlighting their stories of hope, healing and triumph.

So that is why everything is very much pink on the day, providing an opportunity for pink drinks to also be totally acceptable for all.

The polo match itself will see Team Cintron taking on Team Vodacom for the Cintron Pink Polo trophy. Even if you aren't a fan of the game or know little about it, the action is simply riveting and easy to follow.

There are more than enough attractions on the day away from the sport of kings though. The Pink Food Truck Fair will provide a selection of food and drink options to provide the perfect picnic setting. There will be a fashion show too which can be best seen from the pavilion area for those really looking to make a day of it. Then there is a dedicated VIP area where guests are treated to butler service, delectable canapes, premium cocktails created by Cintron and Campari as well as get to hang out with the many A-listers the event attracts.

Here's the programme for the day.

And Vodacom will be providing free Wifi!
